Market is in control of teens
I believe the Market is in control of teens for many reasons. The first and foremost is that the market affects peoples habits. Many teens watch celebrities on TV or read about them and try to be like them. The way these celebrities dress up also influences teens. They try to have the same "perfect" body and this could negatively affect teens. They look at models in advertisements and try to look like them and they do not eat enough for example. The Market's affect on teens is also visible when one looks at the statistics of teenagers that become more and more violent the more they watch action movies and buy action video games as well. The market also controls teens by creating products that are extremely addicting. Facebook is one of those addicting things the market has created. Many video games like Black Ops is addicting as well and in that way, the market controls the time teens have. The market always creates ways to keep teens on the edge of their seats, interested and consuming more and more. The last and most unnoticed is the way the market forces teens to buy "new" things every time they come out. Most teens that buy new phones do not actually need them. They buy the new phone because the Market creates a phone that is good but missing one thing and then shortly after produces another phone that has that feature that was missing in the previous phone. Therefore, the teenager goes out to buy the new phone even if the old one was perfectly fine. The market also tends to produce things with very short lives. Many computers produced do not survive more than 2 years and that forces teens to ask for new ones. So basically, the market controls the way teens look like, the way they spend their time, and the way they spend their money.

I agree with some of what you are saying; however, I find that teens are in control overall. Teens are the ones that dictate the success of a certain product, and marketers have to make their merchandise appealing to teens after surveying their interests. In order for marketers to produce something appealing for teens, they must first analyze what a teen would buy! If that alone does not prove that teens directly or indirectly control the market, then I do not know what will!
